COHASSET More than 225 young athletes raced in the Junior Triathlon on July 9, but the biggest winner of all may have been Race Director Bill Burnett.

"Walking through the venue during the race, seeing the kids when they finish the race and they’re all smiling – that makes me feel like a million dollars," said Burnett. "It’s one of the happiest events we put on. The kids feel great, the parents are proud, and everybody’s out doing something active."

As the weather turned cool and damp this week, many minds may have already started thinking ahead to summer – but none more so than the mind of Bill Burnett and his team at Streamline Events, which annually organizes and hosts the Cohasset Triathlon.

The Tri draws about a thousand athletes each year, 40 percent of whom have never been to Cohasset before. This boosts the local economy while creating a sense of community in town during race weekend. Residents line the course to cheer, even though so many of the athletes are strangers. Some stood their ground even during the wind and rain of last year’s race.

But this year’s race won’t be just another triathlon. It will be the 10th annual Cohasset Triathlon. Streamline has scheduled the milestone race for Sunday, June 26, and it’s going to be bigger than ever.
